Come help us celebrate the advent of fall with wine, music and tasty treats. The trio ensemble of Roxanne Ramah (violin), Al Wakefield (flute) and Kristi Bragg (cello) will return to Pierce's Garage for a final 2024 appearance, along with hors d'oeuvres from master chef Heather Shay (grilled shrimp skewers and grilled vegetable skewers with roasted garlic dipping sauce and chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce).
And of course there will be wine. I'm very excited about a new wine label that Vermont Wine Merchants just added, which features some superb French wine at very reasonable prices. The trick is to find the small cooperatives and the out-of-the-way places that the French themselves would favor for their vin quotidien.
We'll sample a white Bordeaux and a red Bordeaux, both priced at a very affordable $11.99. Here's what Eric Asimov of the NY Times has to say about the red: "This bottle, made by Jean Marc Barthez, head of a small cooperative in the greater Bordeaux area, is precisely the sort of wine you imagine the locals drinking... It’s supple, dry, fresh, mildly tannic, humble and direct."
We'll also expand our horizons with a delightful white from Côtes de Gascogne ($9.99) and a graceful red from Valençay ($15.99). A refreshing Tempranillo from Castilla in Spain ($9.99), will complete the offering.
So please plan to join us a week from Friday for a convivial, delectable event.
Cheers,
